Louise Bell moved to Denman Island in 1989 and has served as one of the two elected local trustees for Denman since 1996. Louise's commitment to local governance is evident in her contributions as the current Chair of the Trust Fund Board Long Term Funding Committee, as Chair of the Local Planning Committee for 2005-08 and of Trust Fund Board for 1999-2005; and as a member at various times of the Islands Trust Financial Planning Committee, Trust Programs Committee, and Governance Task Force.

Over the years, Louise has consistently demonstrated a dedication to upholding the "preserve and protect" object of the Islands Trust through her commitment to analyzing and weighing complex issues, her willingness to consider diverse views, and her ability to make principled decisions.
