Management Plans
Islands Trust Fund management plans are used to provide long term direction and guidance for the protection of its Nature Reserves and Sanctuaries. Trust Fund Board policy requires that the Islands Trust Fund develop a management plan for each property that it owns. As a general practice, the Islands Trust Fund aims to update each management plan every ten years.

A management plan:
- Sets out the conservation goals for a property;
- Documents the property's values and features;
- Describes issues specific for each property; and,
- Provides recommendations on issues such as:
- invasive species management;
- species at risk protection;
- public access and safety;
- educational and research opportunities; and
- signage needs.
The Trust Fund Board works with local community groups to carry out the management actions or strategies identified in the plans as resources allow.
